Carrying on with breast feeding when returning to work - how hard is this?

I will probably have to return to work when my baby (due in July) is about 6 months old but I want to continue breast feeding.

My friend who has 2 younng children and has just returned to work said this is not easy at all and has had to switch some feeds over to formula.

I really don't want to use formula at all so has anyone had any success with continuing to breast feed on returning to work?Carrying on with breast feeding when returning to work - how hard is this?
My husband watches our baby while I work. I pump 4 times a day. Once before I leave and 3 times while I am there. I was fine.

Pump starting at week 4 and pump twice a day every day. This will build up your freezer supply. Also pump once each day on the weekend for the same.

Our baby never needed formula for the first year...and I went back when she was 10 weeks old. I also didn't start solids with her until she was 6.5 months of age.

It IS NOT HARD if you make pumping your priority. Nothing got in my way. At times, I had to rearrange my schedule- particularly on field trip days, but it was fine.

So, for me, no formula, pumping 4 times a day and on demand when I got home and on weekends.

Good luck- you CAN do this.

P.S. I work too far to head home and nurse on my lunch break- which is only 25 min. long!

Edit: i have an ameda pump and highly recommend it ;

we introduced bottles after week 4.Carrying on with breast feeding when returning to work - how hard is this?
My sister went back into full tim work and did to continue to breast feed her son,however my mum looked after him while my sis at work and she found it very difficlut sometimes he would cry for ages because he wanted a feed and would get very distressed f my sister was late for any reason.

I think its great you want to continue for as long as possible but if you need to go back to work it may be easier for whoever looks after your baby if you can get baby to take a bottle as well as breast,you can always express your milk for baby.

Good luck
Get a good electric pump (preferably a double pump) and get your baby used to being on the bottle as well as the breast or pump exclusively and use the bottle only. It's convenient for everybody and the baby doesn't have to wait for a break in mama's schedule to feed. I pump and use the bottle because it's more convenient and we still receive the same benefits as if he were on the breast. You still got time to figure out how you wanna do it. Good luck and congrats!
Once you get used to the pump etc you will be fine.

A good boss I knew of actually gave the two of them his office while he went for coffee, when mummy was let down by the childminder. Baby slept in the car seat and was cradled by the other clarks when if woke. Boss was seen all that afternoon rearranging his family photo's on the computer.
