How do I make this windows 95 game work on Vista?

We have a game made for Windows '95 but we used 2 be able to play it on XP. Now we try to play it on Vista, we set it to 256 colours and we can even set it to windows '95 mode but it says it ';can't create driver dirdib.drv';

How can we fix this?How do I make this windows 95 game work on Vista?
Hi, I am sorry but u won't be able to play this game on Windows Vista because Microsoft thinks that any user today won't run anything designed for Windows 95. There are dos emulators out so they will create a virtual dos environment so u could play dos games on it and u can if this game used dos on Windows 95 then it will run on this without a problem:

Dos Box:

If it is a Windows 95 game that has to be installed then there are three ways:

1. Downgrade to Windows Xp(not recommended)

2. Dual boot Windows Xp and Vista, Xp has to be installed first.(up to you)

3. Download virtual pc 2007 from http://www.microsoft.com

You can create a virtual harddisk to install Windows 95 on and run the game while virtually running Windows 95. If u don't have a Windows 95 cd then u can download an iso image of Windows 95 that needs to be burned onto a cd to be installed. You can download it at:

The decision is up to you, you could also forget about the game all together, but I know some of those old games are fun huh?

...

and option 4.

right click on all exe files and change compatibility to windows 95. this will allow it to run..you may need to download a different version of the .dll file, but this depends on the game your trying to play.

Hope this helps. Report Abuse

ok , not recommended unless ur pc literate, but if u have a big enuf hd put xp on a partition on ur pc , this will give u a dual system with xp or vista at startup, when ur boot screen comes up it will ask u which os to run
Could you reply with the name of the games?

you may be able to right click on the properties of the game and click on a tab for compatibility and set it to what ever works.
you can't, yet.

thats the problem with Microsoft's new software. theres always bugs and compatibility problems.

I won't be getting Vista for awhile.

PS: you can try to download or find and install '; dirdib.drv';

It's a driver for old games.

Since it works on XP, XP must have this driver. Meaning you can use Search on Xp, find it, then copy/install the driver to the PC with vista. It's a long shot, but it might work.
