How do I talk to this guy at work?

He seems really really shy... but he's soooo hot. The only contact I've EVER had contact with him was one time the other day he was pushing this thing and I was walking out and we kinda crossed paths and he smiled and let me go ahead of him. So obviously I have NO clue if he has any interest, because he's so shy! I've never seen him talk to anyone and we're all really friendly at work, so I just don't know how to start the conversation.
