NVidia numbers their cards in the following way:
Go XYZ0
The higher the X, the newer the card, but it doesn't mean it's a good card. For example, a 7950 is way better than a 8400
A higher Y means a better card. Usually, any Y below 4 will be a low end card. Low end cards are good for video, and DVD playback, but they are not good for gaming.
If Z is 5, it means it's a bit better than one where Z is 0. It will usually beat the next Y. For example:
A 7150 is a bit better than a 7200 but it's light years away from a 7300.
See these charts to get an idea on what video cards are good for gaming:Will this video card work for the Sims 2 with most expansions?
The best way to determine if your existing video card will run a specific game it to go to this Website, select the game you wish to play, and then click the ';Can you run it?'; button.

The systems recommendations for The Sims 2 are:
64 MB 3D accelerated video card (NVIDIA GeForce4/ATI Radeon 9000/Intel 910 or better)
Your video card is fine for the game as far as I can tell.
