Will this work on my computer?

I am looking at buying Nero 5 (it's cheap) and it says that it comes with a DOS Driver (what is that?). And it says ';This software will only work with the drive it came bundled with.'; What does that mean?

P.S. If someone gives me a legit answer that I'm looking for, I'll choose your answer as a best answer (you'll get 10 points). I'll also give you a thumbs up (1 point). Thanks for your help! Will this work on my computer?
A driver is what is needed for the computer's operating system (like Windows) to work with the software that you are buying so the disk that you burn is done correctly.

It means that you can't copy the software to another disk (that will work) to give to someone else or you can't use the disk on anyone else's machine after you install it on yours. There is coding on the disk to track that it has been installed on your machine or however many machines that Brothersoft (who makes NERO) will allow (sometimes you get up to three licenses with some software programs). I suspect you will have only one license.

Why don't you look at some of the free burning programs available here:

if your windows is xp or vista then you can install nero versions 6 or higher version and you can buy or download the newer version of this site.

off course if i don't say you good because my English language is bad
First, as others have said, Nero 5 is outdated. I bought Nero 6 in, I think, 2004 or so.

DOS (or Disk Operating System) was used, as someone else pointed out, in the eighties and up until Windows 95 came out in 1996. If you want to see it, just hit your Start button, choose ';Run'; and type ';cmd';. That's not really DOS, but it looks and works like DOS.

Finally, it is indeed possible to limit software to the drive it's bundled with. Unless you're getting CD drive (the piece of hardware that actually does the burning and that you insert the blank CD in) with the software, I wouldn't buy it. There are free alternatives out there that work really well. Go to download dot com and look around. You'll find something that will work and that you don't have to spend any money at all on.
It simply means that for ';verification and anti-piracy purposes';, your software will only operate with the original DOS Driver.
the drive it is talking about is a cd drive.

i guess the bundle included a cd burner and the burning software.

that is crap.

install the software and it will work as long as you have a cd drive.
Nero 5 is EXTREMELY outdated. A DOS Driver is literally that, a device driver for the MS-DOS operating system (the 80's and early '90s).

I would buy the latest Nero, because 5 will most likely not have required instruction sets to run on modern computers (XP, Vista, 7). I know it may be cheap, but it is a bad investment for the long run, sorry. :-(

That is the link for Nero 9.

Good luck!
